Map View

See your followed trials' sites on an interactive map — cluster and heat-map views, a draw-to-filter polygon, and per-facility details.

Your portfolio on a map

The Map View tab plots the clinical-trial sites of the trials currently in view. It reads each trial's geocoded site locations, so as you filter the dashboard (by query, phase, status, sponsor, disease, drug…) the map updates to show only the matching sites. A trial that runs at several sites appears at each one.

  • Each point is a trial site (facility), positioned by its latitude/longitude.
  • The map respects every other filter on the page, and a selection on the map filters the rest of the dashboard back.
  • When you deep-link to a single trial, the map shows just that trial's sites; a "Show all studies" button clears the single-trial focus.

Markers, clusters & heat map

At a world view, nearby sites collapse into colored cluster bubbles showing how many sites they contain; zoom in (or click a cluster) to break it apart down to individual markers. A toggle switches the same data between markers/clusters and a heat map that shades regions by site density.

  • Cluster bubbles — count of sites in that area; color/size scales with the count.
  • Markers — individual sites; click one for details (below).
  • Heat map — toggle from the controls to see geographic concentration at a glance instead of individual points.

Draw a polygon to filter by geography

Use the draw tool to lasso an area and filter your whole portfolio to trials with a site inside it — useful for "trials running in my region/country cluster". Click to drop points (at least 3), then Complete to apply. The polygon filter stacks with all other dashboard filters.

  • Draw Polygon — start dropping points; the control shows how many more you need (minimum 3).
  • Complete / Cancel — apply the polygon, or discard it while drawing.
  • Redraw / Delete — replace the current polygon or remove the geographic filter entirely.
  • While active, the dashboard, table, and the Facilities/Countries/Regions charts all narrow to sites inside the polygon.
Tip: Combine the polygon with other filters — e.g. draw Western Europe, then click Phase 3 in the Phases chart — to isolate a precise geographic + clinical slice.

Facility details

Click a site marker to open its details: the facility name and city/country, the trial(s) running there with their status, and quick access to the trial record. This makes the map a way to explore who is running what, where.

Map controls

  • Zoom in / out and pan; clusters expand as you zoom.
  • Heat map ↔ markers toggle.
  • Draw / complete / cancel / redraw / delete the polygon filter.
  • Fullscreen — expand the map to fill the screen.
  • Use my location — with permission, center on where you are to see nearby sites.
  • Tiles follow your light/dark theme.

Where the map data comes from

Sites come from each trial's location records (the ClinicalTrials.gov locations data), geocoded to coordinates. Only sites with valid coordinates are plotted. The same location data powers the Top Facilities, Countries Distribution, and Regions Distribution charts — and when a polygon is active, those charts use only the sites inside it.

Note: If a trial's sites haven't been geocoded yet they won't appear as points, even though the trial is still counted everywhere else in the dashboard.
